Big Chief and the Scrap of Meat
Once upon a time two brothers had resorted to a physical brawl over the last piece of meat during a village feast. Seeing that this was happening Big Chief wandered over and immediately the two brothers stopped fighting. Big Chief said “Give me the meat.” The brother holding the meat did so then Big Chief said: “Let us sit down and discuss this.” All three men sat down. Big Chief said: “Tell me why you were fighting over this meat. Let Older Brother speak first.” When Older Brother began to speak Big Chief took a large bite out of the meat and acted like he was satisfied with what the older brother was saying. Then Big Chief said while smacking his lips and still chewing: “Enough. “Now your turn Younger Brother” and then he swallowed. And as Younger Brother explained why he was fighting Big Chief took another bite of the meat and acted like he was satisfied with what Younger Brother was saying and just before he swallowed the second bite he said “Enough.” Just as this happened The Boy who cleans up the waste walked by silently doing his job and Big Chief stopped him and said “Boy. Why were you not fighting to get more meat? You are skin and bones.” The Boy replied “I have already finished my meal that was allotted to me by my Mothers.” Then Big Chief turned to the brothers and said “Older Brother why did you stop fighting when I came over here?” Older Brother laughed and said “Because Big Chief you would have pinned both of us down easily for fighting over food.” Then Big Chief asked The Boy “Are you afraid of Big Chief?” The Boy said “Of course not you and your warriors protect the whole tribe.” Big Chief tossed the meat to the boy and said “Enough.” Big Chief wandered away and the brothers watched The Boy eat the meat. The Boy finished the meat and patted his stomach and said “Enough.” The boy and the two brothers burst out laughing.
